Tastes like candy. I'd say Licorice. Yes it does give a kick, and yse you will get krunk like nothing else.
IIRC it is illegal to sell in the US but is legal to possess. As a result many end up buying from British websites and having it imported. Or we some people have friends smuggle the stuff in on their way back from Europe.

As I understand, the good stuff (with wormwood), can be bought in Prague. It's likely that Poland has it too, though.
Edit: After reading more up on it, it appears that the best stuff is from Spain. Should be legal to order it, though.

Did you go to prague just to see if you could buy the green fairy? Prague offers many wonderful things, such as cheap alcohol, cigarettes, quality food and oriental weapons. All of these may be products of poor workmanship, but there's also quality. I remember buying both good smokes and a few pretty good weapons - But also a sword/knife that broke almost instantly. Mind you, the weapons are for collectors interest.

I must visit Prague!! A friend of mine has just been and I am getting a bit fed up of her extolling the place. Its on my "must see" list for 2006
