Sharon has annouced the dissolution of the Israeli parliament and his withdrawal from the Likoud followed by the creation of a new more moderate party that has been predicted to be the next winner by the preliminary polls.
Any opinions?

Moderation is what we need in that region as opposed to tanks and rockets (wow never thought id say that lol), hopefully this will continue to move things in the right direction.

He has been doing alright so far. Hope things stay as peaceful as they have become in Israel. A non-Israeli checkpoint opened up in the Gaza Strip. There was no incident, that is a show of progress.

Shimon Peres has fled the Labour Party to join up with Sharon. Good riddance I say!

It'll become a party dominated by hardline populist right-wingers and will hopefully be dismissed to the political wilderness. Somehow I can't see that happening immediately, but hopefully in the future.....
