TENSIONS ESCALATE IN THE WEST PACIFIC
Comrades of the Coalition,
Simmering discontent among the resistance movement of The West Pacific over the actions of the new regime led by The Delegate Eli has boiled over into what a resistance member qualified as an “open rebellion” against Eli and all foreign powers in support of the new regime. The new regime is now up to new challenges as reports forwarded to this reporter indicate that Enegro Montoya, former Minister of Justice, has joined with Byiah in tendering his resignation and has teamed up with the resistance movement. Further reports tend to suggest that Moldavi has indeed been reinstated as Minister of Security following a brief suspension over an incident that included perceived abuses of a Hitler smiley…what is certain though, is that all sides are working under an incredible amount of pressure as The West Pacific faces a new crisis.
These renewed and increased tensions coincides with a statement approved by the Central Soviet of the Red Liberty Alliance and recently released by the Commander of the Red Liberty Armed Forces – Xhadam – in which the organization formally recognized the Government in Exile as legitimate and pledged to assist it until “the West Pacific Triumvirate [had been] driven from power” and democracy restored to the shores of The West Pacific. To this statement, Unistrut, retorted that “The RLA will drown in a river of its own blood should it carry through on its idiotic threats.”
This escalation materialized as the world logged in to the s8 forums of The West Pacific to read the infobox praising the resistance movement, encouraging the natives to un-endorse Wickedly Evil People/Eli in favor of Berhampore, former Delegate of The West Pacific, forum administrator, and long-time supporter of a democratic regime in The West Pacific. Further investigations confirmed the rumors that Berhampore had rescinded the administrator status of all accounts but his, The Shotgun Seat’s and Lanier who remains the ROOT admin of The West Pacific but temporarily unavailable. Several foreign diplomats were seen protesting against the newly imposed moderator preview and the release of snippets of correspondence between Triumvirate supporters who were published to the public – actions that many deemed “hypocritical” and contradictory to the ideals of freedom of speech professed by Berhampore. The new rulers of The West Pacific responded to the rising defiance by publicly condemning the actions of Berhampore, accusing him of upholding double-standards. Berhampore has since then been relocated to The Rejected Realms by The Delegate, Eli. Warrior Thorin, Consul of The Meritocracy and Senator of The People’s Republic of The Pacific, released a statement declaring that An administrator of a forum has a duty to protect the privilege of the rightful members to continue participation in the community. He went on to say that : Berhampore has breached that trust and his actions remind me swiftly of the recent forum destructions which have occurred abroad throughout NS. He concluded his statement by demanding the resignation of Berhampore as forum administrator and an apology for putting foreign diplomats on moderator preview. BlackAdder, Senator of Diplomacy, rhetorically asked whether “Berhamphore was RLA”, drawing parallels between his actions and the forum destruction carried out by elements within the Red Liberty Alliance in December 2005.
The rulers have reacted to the offensive moves carried out by Berhampore by announcing and confirming the intentions to move to a new forum with a layout similar to the boards of The Meritocracy, to be administered by Winnipeg - ROOT admin of The Meritocratic forums - Eli and Unistrut.
Eli, although pressed for time, was available for a few comments on the events in The West Pacific :
The increasing tensions within The West Pacific throws into sharp relief the widening divisions within The West Pacific as it has become apparent that many elements from both sides are being driven by immense anger and frustration. The prospect of a peaceful remains unlikely at this time, but one can only hope.

Eli, although pressed for time, was available for a few comments on the events in The West Pacific :
VOTP : Eli, you were one of the most vocal critics of The North Pacific Directorate in The Meritocracy and today, you stand besides Moldavi in The West Pacific, directing a regime many deem similar to The North Pacific Directorate. What has led to this change of heart?
Eli : The Charter of the West Pacific provides for full excercise of national rights and representation via the Charter.
VOTP : What are the goals of your new government?
Eli : The government's goals are to introduce stability and dynamism into a region that was formerly immersed in bureaucracy and had stagnated to the point of virtual inactivity.
VOTP : Would you qualify your actions as a Revolution? And if yes, as a Francoist Revolution as some of the Pacific rhetoric implies?
Eli : I don't know that I would classify my actions as a revolution. I'm not a political theorist, I percieve myself as a person that acts when he feels it is needed, decisively and without hestiation. I felt that action was needed in tWP to rescue it from hopeless division. And while I respect my friends in the PRP I'm not sure that it is a Francoist movement. I can say that I'm opposed to regions treating the West Pacific as their colony to exploit at their whim.
VOTP : This brings into question some of the perceived objectives of the regime. There have been talks from your part to "return The West Pacific back to its citizens" and eliminate foreign influence over the workings of the region. Yet, the regime has essentially received support from foreign powers such as The Meritocracy and The Pacific and the new government is host to two known nations unaffilatied with The West Pacific until now, and several foreigners have signed up for service in the new government. Is this a trend you expected ? Is this a trend you desire?
Eli : The objectives remain the same as previously stated. I have asked for the assistance of That Called Vlagh (Moldavi) and Unistrut, players that I have long known, and some I knew would have the type knowledge I preceive I'm going to need. That individual members of The Meritocracy and of The Pacific have elected to support me is an honor for me. Both organizations are ones that I respect greatly. That said I would hope that as emotions calm and as natives realize that my only goal is a region that is stable and free, they'll return and give their much need input that we might get on with the business of making the West Pacific great.
VOTP : Chronorica, Meritocratic Senator, has made an open call for the Meritocracy in an editorial to exploit The West Pacific to further what is referred to as "Meritocratic Cultural Imperialism". Is this not a perfect example of foreign powers attempting to exploit The West Pacific at their whim? Will you strive to resist this movement?
Eli : First Senators of the Meritocracy are entitled to espouse what they will. I believe that a West Pacific independent of the alphabet defenders is a worthy goal. As First Minister of the West Pacific I will continue to steer an independent course.
