ELI SEIZES STATE CONTROL OF THE WEST PACIFIC!
Comrades of the Coalition,
In an move that was described as predicted by several participants of The West Pacific’s Constitutional Committee III, Biyah, former Consul of the short-lived Dominion, announced to the People of The West Pacific in a statement broadcasted on the 17th of January that The West Pacific [was] now ruled at the behest of three people. Eli as Delegate of The West Pacific. TAO as Foreign Minister, and Biyah as Security Minister. [/I]. Ironically, he was to resign a few hours later and be replaced by That called the Vlagh, also known as Pierconium or Moldavi. An endorsement cap has since been imposed and efficiently enforced. The new provisional government soon earned the sobriquet of Triumvirate and declared that the controversial Constitutional Committee III, ( commonly referred to as “ConComIII” ) aimed at rectifying the flaws of the second parliamentarian Constitution, had been a failure and derailed by a vocal minority. The Ministers of the Triumvirate affirmed that this move was a necessary step in the right direction to put The West Pacific back "on the right track."
ConComIII started in controversy, and ended in controversy. Only 44 % of the West Pacific Councilors directly mandated the Convention and voted in the affirmative, while the remaining percentage either voted against or abstained. Arguments similar to those who arose during the last Prime Minister elections in The North Pacific erupted, as citizens argued that The Constitution had no mandate since a majority of the voters had failed to support the Convention. Citing “Roberts Rules of Orders”, their opponents argued that all abstentions were to be discarded and as such, that the Convention could start on legitimate grounds. TAO, de facto Prime Minister at that time, pushed ahead and declared that “ConCom3 is proceeding”. Preliminary polls and discussions in The Constitutional Convention indicated a wide support for the adoption of a Constitutional Monarchy – although several members such as Lanier argued for a more powerful and stable executive, embodied in a lifetime Sovereign – as opposed to the previous form of democratic governance that many deemed had generated stagnation. As the Convention proceeded however, pro-democratic factions spearheaded amongst others by Shasoria, former Speaker of the Council and Minister of the Defence, garnered increasing support for their constitutional drafts, proposing a more democratic Constitution, including the presence of an elected executive embodied and led by a President. Lanier virulently denounced this trend, accusing Shasoria of having derailed the process and subverted the collective will of the participants who had expressed their preference for a Constitutional Monarchy in the preliminary polls. Moldavi, Pacific Senator of Justice, prospective Meritocratic Senator and new Minister of Security of the “Provisional Government”, explained his opinions on the events that had unfolded in the feeder: “The Delegate looked at the situation developing in the constitutional convention and determined that since the majority had voted in favor of a monarchal system that he would take the next logical step since it was apparent that certain nations would rather stall the governmental process entirely than accept a system that does not conform to their wishes.”
The birth-announcement of The West Pacific Triumvirate was followed shortly after by the release of a Decree approved by The Senate of The People’s Republic of The Pacific, presented by Pacific Senator of Diplomacy, BlackAdder. He voiced in no uncertain terms, the “Unwavering Support” of his region to what he described as a “just Revolution”, similar to the August Revolution that brought Francois Spain to the delegacy of The Pacific, heralding the age of The New Pacific Order and its successor, The People’s Republic of The Pacific. BlackAdder concluded with the following words: “This is how we in the Pacific began Comrades, we shook off the shackles of apathy and chaos. Revolution is a fire, not a negotiation. We now enjoy the Great Society because of our violent and tenuous beginning and it was correct. The New Order in the West Pacific is also correct. It is time for us to shoulder our weapons once again Comrades in aid of our cousins. We must defend Feederites against Userite Aggression. The Militia awaits you.” [/I]“
As stated earlier in this article, Biyah further surprised the world in a statement he released, barely a few hours after the Senate Decree, declaring he would resign as Minister of Security with the following words : “It appears that select members of the PRP are going to step into place within The West Pacific at the delegates behest.[..]This is a handover, a permanent dictatorship against everything I was told would be.[…]This is an invasion of my home by a group I have sworn to counteract wherever possible[…]as I promised to many last night, I will not support a regime that intends nothing more then handing my home to the dirty hands of the pathetic francoists.[…] [/I] Eli later announced the appointment of Moldavi, under his alias “That called the Vlagh” as Biyah´s successor to the position of Minister of Security and declared Unistrut as new Minister of the Defense.
TAO has reportedly resigned from the game, citing that he had been the victim of an underhanded trick as main reason. Further details surrounding this event remain unknown to this reporter, at this time.
The Consul of The Meritocracy, Warrior Thorin – who retains the title of Senator of Administration in The Pacific – immediately pushed for The Meritocracy to adopt a similar statement. Several Senators of the Meritocracy have loudly and clearly expressed their support for the new government, headed by their fellow Senator and Administrator Eli. Senator Chronorica argued in an editorial that “ [We Meritocrats] should impart ourselves into joining that community, and taking what is best, and adding those qualities to our own forums”[/I]. In his closing remarks, he wrote : The West Pacific has a lot of potential for the spread of Meritocratic Cultural Imperialism, all we have to do, is spread ourselves to them, and lend our aid to the Triumvirate” before concluding that “[The Meritocracy] can give Eli the helping hand he needs to form the stable, efficient government that that tumultuous feeder needs above all else. After all, who better to lead than a Meritocrat?” [/I]. This statement highly contrasts the line of The Pacific Senate, who qualified Eli’s coup as a “Revolution of Self Determination” in a press article released by the spoke-person for The Pacific Senate, Sir Paul, Senator of Media Affairs. Sir Paul event went as far as saying that Eli had promised “Two Francoist Reforms[/I]”, namely “To rid the region of its bureaucracy” and “to put the region first and rebuild the community[/I]”. Eli reportedly stated in the Pacific Palace of the People that he would “continue to fight for a government in The West Pacific that protects the interests of its citizens and is not chained to alliances that sow only the strife of the outsider[/I].” He was heartily echoed by Senator of Security Doppelganger, who congratulated him on his “good fight against Userite aggression”.[/I]
The Pacific has since then gone on a high alert status and members of The Senate have been spotted gathering hundreds of endorsements as a security buffer. Delegate Unlimited’s endorsements count has been rising steadily since.
The essay Proper Francoist Thought compiled by Senator Unlimited with contributions from the rest of the current Pacific Senate, generally serves as an authoritative source on Francoist Doctrine and states quite clearly that “The two classes recognised by Francoist Thought are the Feederites, who are the nations of their respective Pacific and seek to harness and work with the means of production (namely the Pacific region itself), and the Userites, who seek to exploit its fruits; by exploiting both the nations of the Pacific and the political structure set up within it to further their own political, military and social power.[…][Francoist Thought] encourages the Pacifics and the Feederites, as the oppressed class, to rise up, throw off their chains, and stand on their own two feet for the benefit of themselves rather than a foreign power.”. The call made by certain “userites” of The Meritocracy to exploit The West Pacific to further the agenda of The Meritocracy, coupled with the set-up of the current executive, essentially made up of nations until now unaffiliated with The West Pacific, as well as the outside allegiances of many residents swearing the newly imposed “oath of loyalty”, calls into sharp question the commitment of the new rulers of The West Pacific to “give The West Pacific back to its citizens”.
A native resistance movement has regrouped itself under a common banner and recently dispatched ZetaOne, former Delegate of The West Pacific, to visit the forums of the Red Liberty Alliance, in their quest for recognition and aid. Some critics have attempted to discredit this movement as a “Nasicournian branch” and “illegitimate”, but the general consensus we have met so far in the Red Liberty Alliance is that the sheer numbers of prominent, active and native West Pacifican within the movement proves these claims wrong. Ketoprofen, Central Soviet member, explained : There can be no doubts as to the legitimacy of this resistance movement. The vast majority of the former community of The West Pacific support this movement and so should the Red Liberty Alliance and all other defenders of democracy. He further elucidated by saying that “we should however, maintain a healthy level of skepticism vis-à-vis the intentions of certain members, as the movement includes prominent Core members such as Byiah, who staged a similar coup approximately 3 months ago during the episode known as the “Dominion”. The General Secretary of the Red Liberty Alliance, EuroSoviets, was recorded expressing some doubts as to the allegiances of certain members with Nasicournian membership within the resistance movement, and explained in the Lower Diplomatic Forums of the Red Liberty Alliance that “Nasicournia has a distinct interest in how the cookie crumbles in The West Pacific”. In the Assembly of the Allied States of EuroIslanders, he expressed his skepticism as regards the intention of Nasicournia to support a restoration of democracy, given past experiences such as the West Pacific Dominion Core, where Nasicournia refrained from adopting a stance towards the Core. This policy was perceived by some as a tacit approval of this regime in exchange of continued membership in the Alliance Defence Network, directed by Pope Hope, founder of Nasicournia. The General Secretary of the Red Liberty Alliance – who retains a Senatorship within the Meritocracy – was unavailable for further comments at that time.
Amidst all the turmoil however, The Voice of the Proletariat was able to contact Biyah for an interview and his side of the story.
The Commander of the Red Liberty Armed Forces, Xhadam, has been amongst the most vocal supporters of the resistance movement within the Red Liberty Alliance, as well as in the Meritocracy, where many Senators have qualified his threats to oppose the Consul's proposed policy as an “obstruction” to the Senate and his attacks on the Consul as “unmeritious”, amongst others. He too, was interviewed by the Voice of the Proletariat.
The viewpoint advanced by the members of the Red Liberty Alliance that we were able to discuss with coincides with the opinions of Xhadam as many have expressed their support for an all-out struggle to drive what was described as “imperialist aggression troops and foreign subversives” out of The West Pacific. The situation of The West Pacific has been abruptly strained and led to the brink of a civil war and a big obstacle has been laid in the way for a peaceful solution to this issue due to the moves for active confrontation and conflict carried out by the new rulers of The West Pacific... it goes without saying that The Voice of the Proletariat would like to conclude this issue by wishing The People of The West Pacific success in their efforts to restore their community in this new year 2006.
Long live The West Pacific!
In Solidarity,
The Red Factions
Note : Eli was unavailable at that time for comments and thoughts on the events that have occurred in The West Pacific. The Voice of the Proletariat would like to re-assure their readers by informing them that Eli has agreed to conduct an interview and present his opinions that will be released in another issue of The Voice of the Proletariat! Stay tuned for more information.

VOTP : Biyah, you stand today as a prominent member and de facto figurehead of a resistance movement against Eli's regime in The West Pacific. Yet, you stood besides him 5 days ago. Could you please explain to the readers of the Voice of the Proletariat what led you to initially lend your support to this movement, before retracting it?
Biyah: My initial support was for two basic purposes.
1) Security. Any time there is an upheaval of any sort, there are groups that think there is an open invitation to come in and swap.
2) Stability. It was and is my view that the Concom was not being handled in the way it should, for many different reasons. So I supported this as a temporary measure, a tool of martial law.
I didn’t have much of a chance to talk to Eli that first night, and my messages and posts were all the 'wait and see' type. Both because I thought the shutting down was just a tool of martial law, and because I had no plans yet to post about.
It was after I talked to Eli the next morning and found out he did not intend to give up power, and that he would bring in anyone he could to secure his seat, that I realized just what lengths he was willing to go to. A temporary measure I could and would have supported, a permanent grab for power at the expensive of all but a tiny handful of natives I will not.
VOTP : Would you argue that you were deceived by Eli?
Good question. I wasn’t directly lied to, but I was misguided that first night.
We didn’t have but an hour to talk the first day, and most of that was based on immediate repercussions and security concerns. I was under the impression this would be temporary, we didn’t discuss detailed long-term plans and strategy until the next morning. Considering his arguments and supposed beliefs stemming from the Dominion, I didn’t expect he would launch his own dictatorship, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt and signed up with little warning. That proved to be a mistake, one I freely admit.
VOTP : The memory of the Dominion remains fresh to this day. There has been some sceptiscism as regards your intention to restore democracy given the experiences with the Core. Could you re-affirm in public that it is indeed your intention to support the re-establishement of democracy in the West Pacific? Some have expressed their fears that you might be inclined to "replace a dictatorship with another", so to speak. What is your opinion on these fears and what would you respond?
If I wanted a dictatorship, the Flags of the Dominion would still be flying. If I wanted to be part of a different dictatorship, I would be in the Triumvirate. I have had my two chances if I had been so inclined.
There will be a democracy there, not imposed by me, but granted by the authority of all.
VOTP : What is your opinion of the stated goals of Eli's regime ( "Returning The West Pacific back to its citizens" - "restoring the sovereignty of the government" etc..etc...?)
I think he’s using catch-phrases and bull to legitimize himself. You also forgot to mention the most popular, “I am the legally elected delegate…”
He wasn’t elected. His proposed government (released after much public pressure) gives very little power to the people, and the region was always sovereign to itself, we were never controlled, or ‘ADN lapdogs’ or such as he and his new Ministers have been saying. Of course, this was to be expected. If you can’t win support of the natives, blame the ADN and Nasicournia.
Lastly; WE are the citizens, the ones he removed, and the ones he is censoring or outright ignoring. Half his Ministers are out-region personalities (Moldavi and Unistrut). Most of the pledged government is the same: PRP, Meritocracy and Lone Wolves United primarily. If that doesn’t prove that he’s lying through his teeth, nothing will.
VOTP : The exiles have requested recognition and aid from the Red Liberty Alliance and is very likely to receive it ( mere formalities such as voting left ), from what this reporter has heard. What kind of support and what kind of aid would the exiles like to receive from the Red Liberty Alliance?
One of two things.
1) In a perfect world, nothing but Recognition and diplomatic aid. I’d like the GiE to be recognized as the legitimate government of The West Pacific and see the RLA bring all available diplomatic pressure onto Eli and his false regime. I would be perfectly happy if we didn’t have to retake our home by force-of-arms, if Eli would lay down his arms and let a recognized West Pacific nation without any controversy on their name take the delegacy (like Berhampore, Biteland, Zeronial, etc), I would hold a party.
2) Failing a quiet surrender, support then becomes military strength. The 30 or so on the Refuge are not enough to take back the region under the watchful eye of Eli, Unistrut and Moldavi. We would need every ounce of help from every corner of the game. Again, this is an option I would like to avoid, but if it becomes necessary…

VOTP : Xhadam, as Commander of the Red Liberty Armed Forces and prominent member of The Central Soviet, what are you opinions on the legitimacy of the resistance movement of The West Pacific, referred to as the Government in Exile ( GiE )? What stance would you recommend that The Central Soviet adopts?
I believe the resistance movement and the Government in Exile are distinct entities, however, I consider both of them to be legitimate. In these movements, we see nearly two-dozen natives taking a stand against a government that has forced them from their homes, destroyed the laws agreed upon by the people, and established a totalitarian regime in its place. I have already joined with the resistance and I am recommending that the RLA do the same. We have long stood for democracy and freedom in NS and in this dark hour for the West Pacific we cannot allow ourselves to shy away from the challenge of restoring these things we hold sacred to their people.
VOTP : The People's Republic of The Pacific has issued a statement of support for Eli's regime. The Meritocracy may very well follow that path as this comes against a backdrop of improved PRP - Meritocracy diplomatic relations and the status of the Meritocratic Consul as Senator in The Pacific. Would you be so kind and share your opinions on this issue?
My opinion is this confirms the worst about Eli's coup. By all appearances the once free and sovereign West Pacific is being turned over to the control of the PRP. Moldavi and Unistrut are working their way up the governement, foreign troops are proping up the delegate, the members of the PRP are quickly moving all their regions to back the coup. The RLA should not be shy about helping the resistance, it is clear the WPT has no qualms about outside interference.
VOTP : What kind of repercussions do you think this will have on global power politics ? Are you optimistic on the days to come ?
The reprecussion are likely to be wide and far reaching depending on this goes. If the resistance wins, defenders could once again have a potent ally and friend of the West Pacific which will once more shine as a beacon of how democracy can work in a feeder. If the WPT wins, the PRP empire will grow and I believe another one of the feeders will be next on their hit list. Yes, I am optimistic about the future of the West Pacific because I know I and the resistance will not stop until democracy is restored to the region. No surrender, no retreat.
