The following "Statement by the ADN Regarding TWP" was written by Blackbird, the Alliance Defense Network Secretary of State.
Additionally, Pope Hope has announced that the Alliance Defense Network Cabinet will release its currently classified discussion regarding The West Pacific "for purposes of governmental transparency--reaction and motive."
he offices of the Director of the Alliance Defense Network and the Secretary of State issue this brief statement on the situation in the West Pacific:
For the past two days, the West Pacific was in a state of internal turmoil. Many have suggested that the Alliance Defense Network supported, created, instigated or gave support to the West Pacific Dominion. This in fact, is truly and utterly false. The ADN viewed this conflict as a purely internal matter, and the Cabinet and Officers of the ADN, in preliminary and continuing discussions on the matter adopted a "wait and see" policy regarding the change in government. To suggest otherwise is deception.
We steadfastly stand by this policy. We know the ADN took the righteous and just course in allowing the people of the West Pacific to resolve this themselves. The ADN had no part in any aspect of this event whatsoever, and we know we were right, and still are right in adopting our "wait and see" policy.
However, we will clarify some of our actions that may have confused those onlookers who were not privy to the internal evaluations of the ADN regarding this issue. Firstly, the opening of the embassy on the WPD forums was not, in any way, shape, or form, official recognition of the government. The Alliance Defense Network, in an effort to fully understand and evaluate the nature of these changes, opened the embassy to maintain an open line of communication with those members of the "Core". We also maintained our lines of communication with those members who opposed those changes, also to understand and fully comprehend the changes. We recognize that this may have been perceived as official recognition, and we believe it was a mistake to open an Embassy rather than a Consulate or Interest Section. Secondly, the statements made by the ADN regarding defense of The West Pacific from foreign intervention were not intended to be construed as a statement condemming any of the West Pacific's allies from fulfilling treaty obligations, but rather, as a warning against invaders and other aggressors from taking advantage of the situation to foment discord. Biyah, the leader of the WPD, specifically stated that the purpose of martial law was to prevent undue foreign influence as was in the case of the North Pacific during its troubles. We at the ADN respected that evaluation, and fully intended to protect our member region from undue malicious foreign interference.
Many have drawn parallels between the West Pacific Dominion and the North Pacific Directorate. The Alliance Defense Network rejects any such comparison. The WPD, it is widely recognized at this time, had only the best intentions at heart, and was a creation of members, citizens and the government of the West Pacific, intended for the benefit of the region, though in hindsight the actions taken may not have been as beneficial as intended. The NPD, as it is widely recognized, had significant foreign players involved and was by no means an purely native-born government, unlike the West Pacific Dominion.
The Alliance Defense Network believes it took the right course is abstaining from action in the West Pacific and we rest easy knowing that its member region, the West Pacific, is free of this turmoil, and may begin the healing process.
Signed,
Pope Hope
