After more than almost two months of Martial Law in a period that should have been ,according to the leadership, transitional and rather short, things may be coming to an end. Indeed, the charter The Proletariat Coalition struck down in the latest referendum is being gradually enforced, although this is more of a formality than anything else. In fact, The Alliance Defense Network is about to formalize what has been known since the declaration of martial law and the proposal of the new charter.
The Alliance Defense Network's Council of Regional Representatives is now moving towards Director Elections, or rather a confirmation of Pope Hope as Director. This position will be as the new charter states, on a lifetime basis and will give her all executive powers while needing 50% of the Council backing her, once confirmed as Director of the Alliance of the Defense Network. Critics have predicted there will be no real opposition worthy of note , and rumors has it that the following comments were made :
Well, if I had a vote, PH would have it 100%. Doesn't matter the other candidates. GO PH!!!
The Council of Regional Representatives will also be electing the ADN's Deputy Director, and so far, the Council seems to have turned in favour of Unistrut, Secretary of Defense, a fellow Nasicournian, as is Pope Hope, and Site Administrator. Other journalists have reported Unistrut has shown willingness to accept this post although one nation whose name won't be named declared that the ADN would be better served with Unistrut remaining as Secretary of Defense. Ironically, a very high ADN official stated some time ago that
we don't need to have people in multiple positions, because there is plenty of leadership to go around. We've proven to have a collection of the best leaders in NationStates.
It does seem however, according to fellow journalists, that our good Unistrut seems rather keen on remaining Secretary of Defense and becoming Deputy Director. On another hand, these very same "best leaders" did lead the Alliance Defense Network with its competent and supposedly good leadership to a state that requiring martial law to be declared. So, whether this statement is correct remains to be seen.
The Council of Regional Representatives will also be electing it's President, whose sole role will be to oversee the council, maintain it's decorum, administer the voting, and reporting the results to the life-appointed Director. Sources tell us that Delegate Blackbird himself has been nominated, although this remains to be confirmed.
With the Alliance Defense Network finally appointing its leadership after a far from smooth transition period, perhaps it will get back on it's feet soon. Although there is a clear willingness for change and progress, history has proven ADN leadership has led the ADN to bureaucracy, inactivity and corruption. Is this a make or break situation? Only time will tell.
