THE COALITION SAYS NAY!
Comrades of the Coalition --
For those of you who have not voted, or if you are simply a guest to our Fine Region, allow The Voice of the Proletariat, headed by The Ministry of the Interior to present the results in the latest important referendum held in The Proletariat Coalition. The Coalition started last week to vote in the referendum relative to the new charter the Director of the ADN has proposed along with the current ADN leadership and the voting can now be considered to be over. The results are in, and the polls are locked. In order to better understand the circumstances surrounding this event, we have decided to give you a quick overview of what exactly happened.
Intensive and colorful debates have been held in The ADN forum designed for the former ADN House representatives concerning this topic, away from the eyes of Diplomats and Representatives from other regions. These forums were closed and are now hidden from Diplomats after it was acknowledged that Diplomatic Personnel from both Pro-ADN and Anti-ADN regions had tried to influence our Delegate Blackbird, our highest representative in Foreign Affairs. He was deluged with needless to say, negative comments concerning their respective opponents. Following a proposal made by Comrade Ketoprofen, diplomats have hereby seen their access to these forums in denied in order to minimize foreign influence over the debates. Concerning this particular issue, the Coalition was divided in two major camps one camp supporting the new charter and the other one vehemently opposed. Pro-ADN forces advocated that democracy should be minimized in the Alliance Defense Network in order to facilitate military operations and allow a centralization of power into the hands of a strong stable director thus eliminating all politicking and bureaucracy that plagued the old charter. They affirmed that The Alliance Defense Network was above all a Military Organization and that democracy was not necessary within a military structure. The Anti-ADN proponents replied that a major purge in the leadership was needed, and that replacing bureaucracy with centralized power simply would not solve the problems. It would further allow the Director to act as he/she sees fit, overriding the council and imposing their views on the ADN without consulting the Council. They claimed amongst other things, that problems surrounding the latest ADN defense missions since Martial Law was declared were a direct consequences of the actions taken.
Now, to the results themselves, courtesy of the Department of Elections, directed by The Minister of the Interior.
30 Comrades showed up and voted in this issue and 70 % voted against the new charter with only 30 % expressing support. A very telling result indeed and our Interim Councilor, namely our own Delegate Blackbird has therefore voted against the charter in the ADN council. However, our Delegate has told us this referendum should be seen as a referendum on the charter, and not the ADN as a whole, a decision that has been criticized by quite a few in the Coalition. Our good Comrade Dobbyniania, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed himself on this matter with the following words :
It is obvious that a vote against the articles of alliance would be a vote against ADN membership if these articles were to be accepted as the governance of the alliance defense network. How can we remain in this alliance when 70 percent of our citizens disapprove of it’s workings? What, we’re supposed to simply ignore the vote continue to participate in this cycle of corruption and unaccountability?
We here at the Voice of the Proletariat will of course, report back to you as soon as more information will arrive.
