Dalioranium Proposes New Education Council
Comrades of the Coalition --
Everyday, the mighty Proletariat Coalition grows in prestige, size, power and influence as Ministers, delegates and working comrades, both current and long past, have amongst numerous other actions, set up institutions of debate, defense, courts, elections, alliances, and even news services like the one you are enjoying as we speak. It is a pleasure to say, with no doubt in our minds that The Coalition is working together towards the common good!
While we strive on healthy leftist ideals, we know that it is our duty to spread our ideas around the world, to educate the working class and our fellow comrades about their own power and destiny. Following the footsteps of other determined and inspired comrades, Dalioranium has proposed the creation of a new education council within The Proletariat Coalition. Its purpose would be to educate new and old comrades alike on a variety of subjects, everything from socialist rhetoric to regional politics in the NS world.
Below is transcript of the interview between Comrade Dalioranium, one of our older comrades and Comrade Earthfirst, Co-Director of the Voice of the Proletariat.
Earthfirst: You state that this council is not democratically elected. Why did you choose not to include a structure to elect these officials?
Dalioranium: I had several reasons, all pertaining to the actual function of the council. Firstly, it has no bearing on the governmental politics in that it is completely neutral in terms of particular people. That will be something the First Councillor will need to stay on top of, and as such there is no worry it will affect the political process. Secondly, the inherent nature of this council does not lend it well to being elected. You introduce a variable power structure and politics, and you taint the entire purpose of the council with inner politics. As civilized as the politics in TPC can be, it would still be a detriment to the council's functioning and purpose. It is meritocratic, and while that may seem wrong to many in TPC, this group has no control over people - it just ensures the best people are able to work to better our region.
EF: How would you go about choosing who is knowledgeable enough to serve on such a council? Will there be some form of test, or simply the will of First Councilor?
DAL: It could be either - such things are not set in stone. Clearly there are members of TPC who have already demonstrated a good level of knowledge, and they may only need to meet requirements of the position to be accepted. Others whom we are not sure of will need to demonstrate some level of understanding, and one of the first steps the council shall take will be determining what is acceptable as standards. There does not need to be a particular test format, but it's likely we would interview the candidate and ask them some questions, get them to elaborate and basically show us that this person has knowledge of the subject(s).
EF: Many nations aren’t active on the proboard forums, so would you make this service available to those comrades who only look to the onsite board?
DAL: Of course, this service is available to everyone in the Coalition, as well as people outside should they do desire. Ideally when things are settled, we will have weekly topics of discussion, or perhaps small essays concerning a subject. Not only do we want to educate and share our knowledge, we hope to get people to become active or more so active in the region. We of course will always be available to telegram to answer any question, and if we are unable to answer it ourselves find you someone who can.
EF: Why is there such complexity in the choosing, approving, and rejecting of councilors and ministers? And could you give a quick summary of those procedures?
DAL: For a couple reasons, not least which is purely accountability and to prevent somebody with an agenda populating this council with like minded folk. Since the council is not democratic it is susceptible to such events, but hopefully with those safe guards I've installed it will prevent anyone from taking control and using it for their own purpose. The second reason is to ensure by consensus we are picking the best people for the job, and vice versa, to make sure we aren't removing somebody who shouldn't be.
These procedures are simply that each councillor must be approved by the Ministers (democratically elected, thereby the will of the people ideally) and Delegate as well as the First Councillor. Mentors must be approved by a sizable number of councillors, or the First Councillor him/herself, in the interests of efficiency. To remove any councillor, it requires agreement among the Ministers and Delegate, once more to help ensure accountability and effectiveness.
EF: With this council’s creation you would seem to be the most likely candidate for the First Councilor. Are there any others you would like to see work on the Council?
DAL: As for others in particular I would hope to get some of the people who were previously involved in organizations such as the High Court. Currently, I would like to see Southern Tasmania become a member, as he was the driving force behind the constitution and clearly a knowledgeable member of our community. As well, Peaceful Minds and Star City would both look to be ideal candidates, as well as Jako. We have a lot of unused talent in the region, and I would hope to offer these people a chance to do what could be said to be the greater good.
EF: You mention a forum for debate and discussion. How do you plan to moderate such a forum to prevent an the too common “flame war”? And will offenders of such a forum have the right to trial or appeal in The People’s High Court?
DAL: There will be, what some would say, strict rules in this forum designed to prevent or deal with flames. The purpose is to debate ideas and concepts, not other people, and as such any threads or posts or comments that target somebody as opposed to the merits of an idea will be swiftly dealt with. The only time that such decisions will be able to be appealed or called into a trial will be if the offender is banned from the forum. It should be noted that people will have warnings, and then will require several offenses before being banned, so I doubt that there will be an illegal banning, but it is possible.
We here at the Voice of the Proletariat see the creation of this new Education Council as a great step forward for the Coalition. We encourage the support of all comrades for its creation in the not so distant future and surely we will all benefit from this new institution.
