ADN DIRECTOR DECLARES MARTIAL LAW!
Breaking News to The Comrades of the Coalition --
The Director of the Alliance Defense Network, Pope Hope, declared earlier this week Martial Law in the ADN and grabbed quasi-total powers in the organization, practically dissolving the old . Swiftly after announcing so ADN reps and higher ups were given the address to a new url from which to build a “new start”.
The ADN had for long been falling into decay, being struck hard by inactivity, corruption, disorganization, endless bureaucracy and several scandals involving High-Ranked officials. The Coalition had itself called for major reforms that however was unsuccessful in these attempts up until the declaration of martial law. Pope Hope, realizing the weak and frail state of The Alliance Defense Network, took matters into her own hands and is now leading the ADN in what she claims is a “step in the right direction”.
However, some say this is not the case, the New Charter gives her immense executive powers including a life term appointment, ability to restrict or grant security access at will, command of all ADN military and intelligence and a veto over the council of regions that can only be overturned by a 2/3s majority. The council itself is the only legislative body inside the new adn charter and is restricted to one rep per region giving much power Influence and power to smaller regions. Many Members have voiced serious complaints about this and our brother region, The Allied States of EuroIslanders is now holding a referendum on whether they should withdraw from the alliance or not. If the current vote holds at 14 votes for and 2 abstentions then the ASE will withdraw from the ADN. Our good comrade EuroSoviets said the following:
The VOTP witnessed yesterday the ADN mIRC chat room where lively debates occurred between TPC and ADN officials. Amongst the supporters, The VOTP noticed that delegate Blackbird and comrade ziazan (also known as crazy girl of the ADN military) were very vocal in arguing in favor of pope hope’s drastic move.

There is no chance of the reform I know that Blackbird and others support. The ADN will never be democratic now I think, though no one can foretell the future. I was Secretary of Defence for a while, which is a high position within the former structures of the ADN. Nothing was changed because nothing can be changed by one member, no matter how high he or she may ascend and the mood is not there for change because suddenly everyone is exuberant about the martial law decree.

It has become apparent through the words of some members of the ADN that their intent is to split us from our sister region, The Proletariat Coalition, by inciting members there to think we treat them as puppets. I support the Alliance Defense Network. I'm pretty appalled that our members are saying we've been "[obscentityed]" by the ADN. Not only is it disturbing to see our members speak so undiplomatically, it's also disturbing to see what I believe to be false. The ADN has done nothing but help us.
The ADN is a confederation of a military nature. I would go so far to say that democracy might actually be a hindrance to its effectiveness; however, democracy they do have. Pope Hope, recognizing that many regions were going to leave the ADN, recognizing that beauracracy had crippled the ADN's effectivness and recognizing that its leadership and the leaders of its regions has been severely demoralized by the failures of leadership, declared martial law to fix all these problems and she has.
The ADN is still a democracy. At this point, a Council is the ruling power, with Interim, non-elected (however) representatives, one for each region. Its Charter is not set in stone, and I anticipate that The Proletariat Coalition will make reasonable and realistic suggestions of reform. I have been active at the ADN and am familiar with all of its politiking, all of its successes and all of its failures. Rest assured, members of The Proletariat Coalition, that when the ADN becomes so wracked and tortured to the point that it hurts us, I shall be the first to advocate withdrawal.
We can always choose to withdraw from the ADN, but why would we do it now? It almost strikes of timidity to withdraw from the ADN now because we fear it may be tyrannical rather than waiting and seeing how it goes for a couple months, so that perhaps we can see it being tyrannical.The ADN is like its co-founder, the Pheonix. It dies from its wounds, its horrible problems, yet it rises again from ashes gray, to live again and fly again another day.
